ASBC Methods of Analysis - Flavored Alcohol Beverages-1: Alcohol and Original Extract Content in Flavored Alcohol Beverages by Near-Infrared

ASBC Methods of Analysis

Flavored Alcohol Beverages

Flavored Alcohol Beverages-1
Alcohol and Original Extract Content in Flavored Alcohol Beverages by Near-Infrared

VIEW METHOD

Summary
This method is designed to measure the alcohol and original extract content in flavored alcohol beverages (FABs). The instrument determines the alcohol (%, v/v) content of FABs by using a relationship of absorbance at near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths. The density is determined by means of a density meter. From these two values, the instrument calculates and outputs alcohol percent (w/w) and original extract.
